It is a project of Bus Terminal at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. In this project, the aim was to redesign the existing Bus terminal by solving the current issues, which are generally faced by commuters.
The site have road at one side only to access it. This Bus terminal consist Inter-city , Inter-state bus arrival & departure platform and parking. It also includes Dormitories and other important spaces which is required for functioning of a Bus terminal.
Now, about concept. The concept was to keep the traditional identity of the place in this Bus terminal because “Every place is unique & special” and the speciality of this place is their heritage.So,by keeping it’s tradition and by blending into modernity.Here comes the name ‘Modernity in Tradition’.
The site have ‘Warm & Dry climatic conditions’.So,the traditional jaalis are a very crucial feature/element of their Heritage & Vernacular Architecture.
So, In this design I tried to use this “Lattice screen” feature to tackle the climatic conditions of this ‘Warm n Dry’ place.Courtyard is also there to keep the place ventilated.The place of lattice screen is done in such a way so that the natural wind direction helps in keeping the place ventilated by combining with courtyard’s stack effect.
And the placement of these courtyard is to keep the place(concrete jungle/bus terminal) near to nature. It’s like personal garden with in the house.It will bring calm in the chaotic scenario of Bus terminal.
There is separate Entry & Exit provision for Bus and private vehicles.The Basement is used for parking of private vehicles and Ground floor for Waiting and Tickets counter.Proper location of Arrival & Departure platform helps in organised movement during the journey. To make the place more systematic like airport.The use of organised movement to avoid any kind of chaos which is generally happened at the Bus stop or Bus terminal.
History was created with the help of symmetry & then comes perspective, which has changed the perspective of history, may be balance is going to come in future & balance the history & future... By Kasim A. Khan.
